PELLET ROCKET STOVE
Sorry for the lack of warning, but today is a day off from work. And the library is closed. So I'm pre-posting this "holiday special". When I can't get to the Internet, you get not much more than a link. Check out this:
http://home.att.net/~cleardomesolar/pelletcampstove.html
They claim it burns pellets just on the rocket stove type design. No fan needed. A bit pricey, until you factor in not needing extra motors, rechargeable batteries and a solar recharger. If they meet expectations. If anyone has heard anything, please comment. This would be a cooking, emergency heat source. Not a substitute for a two grand pellet stove running at night while you slept. They don't claim it is for indoor use, of course. But use your imagination for an air intake ( just like you have with a regular pellet stove ). I think this might be an improvement over my previous article using pellets with the Sierra Stove.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Looks like a handy bugger. We use wood pellets for cat litter (costs way less), so we have a few hundred pounds stored. When SHTF, this stove can be very handy. Use a cotton ball with a dab of petroleum jelly on it for a simple fire starter.
Heat source? You aren't seriously considering using that indoors are you? I suppose it beats using tainted chocolates just make sure you aren't around and your supplies are somewhere else wouldn't want them to burn up after she dies of carbon monoxide.
Did you look at the Google video I put up the other day on how to make your own rocket stove? Its simple and a lot cheaper than that. I'm sure you could rig some way to burn pellets in it. You just need to suspend a small piece of narrow grill or wire basket that wont burn out to hold the pellets. Could then be top fed but you would have to do it in batches or find some other way to feed it. Maybe put them in a pipe and dump them in so you don't burn your hands.
Anyway that one uses stove pipe and you could run it on outside with a little imagination. Of course the majority of the heat will go out the pipe unless you make it a long one across the room but you will be surprised how much heat stove pipes give off. You would want another one for cooking of course(outside), you wont want to tear it out every time you need it.

A little pricey, I think. Could be useful. I think you could cobble up something similar out of a coffee can and hardware cloth. I notice they didn't show the grate. If it will run on sunflower seeds and peanuts, it should do OK on dry shelled corn. I like the idea of growing bamboo fuel...

Honestly this is the first time I've been motivated to say that you posted up a dumbass link Jim.
*COUGHSquareCharchoalChimneyCOUGH*
Has anyone here ever used a charchoal smoker? The only difference between that 'pellet stove' and a charcoal chimney is a fance grate and it's square not round. When one factors int the fact that you don't need to take it anywhere then the 20-dollar stainless steel charcoal chimney makes a ton more sense. The only change that needs to be made is putting a finer mesh at the bottom of a charcoal chimney and drilling vent holes at the top of the charcoal chimney. Done!
As for using it inside that's a death-wish: look at the design! The coals could fall right out! The CO buildup would be lethal in a matter of hours. You MIGHT be able to use this as part of a system with a stovepipe and proper ventilation but at that point you might as well buy bricks to do it because they have much higher heat tolerances and they last longer.
Wood Pellets for cat litter... seems my aunt-- no, that as wood chips. Still, a much more cost-efficient idea.
Guess I'll suspend further judgement on this here gizmo 'till i've looked @ johnh and maestro's suggested alternatives.
And don't fret about posting links like this, Bison. 'S what we all need-- a healthy dose of 'alternative' info...
Thanks.
Cygnus
Where do you store all of your food? Isn't the trailer packed with normal stuff? I know the RV I lived in was crammed and we might have had a couple weeks of food in there.
Check out these stoves:
