INCOMPETENT OPPRESSION
The Three Amigos over at http://tslrf.blogspot.com/ had an article on how incompetent government was incapable of conspiracy. Now, I love their site and on very few occasions I enjoy a rational discussion not larded full of paranoia and fear. But only so I can bask in the glow of nostalgia, remembering my more innocent days as I sat out on the lawn and watched the clouds drift by, content to mellow out with a beer and the dream of the start of a middle class lifestyle. Ahhh, youth. So refreshingly optimistic. So able to ignore reality. By and large they are correct in that government is incompetent and extremely wasteful. But this begs a look back at our article on quantity having a quality all its own. First, if enough monkeys pound away at a room full of typewriters then obviously given enough time, and if they are continuously fed and refrain from too many fecal fights with each other, the Great American Novel will appear ( I’m not certain but perhaps this hypothetical scenario has already been put into practice as evidenced by the horrid vomited stream of James Patterson “best sellers” ). Second, it doesn’t matter that the majority of government idiots are in the monkey typing pool. It only takes a small number of competent agents to do the important work. The idiots will do as they are told to protect their pensions so it isn’t about interdepartmental cooperation as it is about a good conductor to a pitiful High School band.

I totally agree that the simplest explanation is most likely the correct one. Unless the simple explanation is mere camouflage. I don’t see conspiracies around every corner. There is not a super secret group controlling the globe. First, no one cooperates that well. The members would be back stabbing each other PDQ. Second, you can’t have a centralization in a declining energy environment. But conspiracies are a reality to a certain point. Such as a dishonest merchant bribing a Senator to get a contract to feed the military or Indian Reservation and using substandard items. That went on for over a hundred years. Such as the military subjecting soldiers to radioactivity, Agent Orange and depleted uranium. When these things are admitted to, they are abuses of power. Before that they are merely conspiracy theories. Yes, a lot of times it is only ignorance and greed that lead to these activities. The only conspiracy theory is the cover your ass after the public outcry. But that certainly can’t rule out the occasional successful start to finish diabolical plan.

Government is not here to protect us. The robbed household member or the cop on the beat might actually believe that LEO’s are here to Protect And Serve. But they missed the part about who is protected. Judges getting a paycheck from the public treasury don’t rule against those that pay them and law enforcement is there to enforce laws. Just or not. Public protection is the sugar that forces the medicine down easier. If government is here to protect itself, then why is it so hard to believe that smoke filled rooms aren’t full of plans against our interests? Of course the Feds couldn’t save New Orleans residents. They could care less as their manpower was over in the oil fields. But could an agency plant internal charges in buildings in Oklahoma City and NYC to further their control and economic interests? Of course. Instead of asking for the simplest explanation you should be asking Who Benefits.

Can you get stupid with conspiracy theories? Sure. It can be a huge time sink to figure out why Kennedy was killed or if we actually landed on the moon. But is it so hard to think that something isn’t kosher in Denmark when a skyscraper blocks away from the twin towers also falls inward, or when the hole in the side of the Pentagon is not the larger size of a jet engine or body but the size of a bunker buster missile? Who Benefits.

Of course there are conspiracies. The U.S. Government is out of control. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and the conspirators use that to their advantage.
Concerning the Bison Survival Bunker,OK lets do it! I'll pledge $500, IF you can get the other 1149 Loyal Minions to contribute $500 each.Good luck.
I had a look at the Dirt Cheap Dirt blog, the 48 acres in Nevada is tempting.Don't know much about Winnemucca,I assume there is a water problem?
Anyway,I think living out in the desert is a good idea.Away from the crowd is what I prefer. The water problem is what worries me.
Off topic but..Went to an Ice Hockey game today,it fucking rocked. My team won,Go Falcons! The Heilbronner Falcons whipped the Landhut Cannibal's asses.
I know a lot of Americans think that Europeans are a bunch of sissies,it ain't so.To be honest it surprised the hell out of me.
Those two Germans went toe to toe and beat the holy crap out of each other. Can you say TEETH ON ICE? Nobody tried to stop the fight, they let them go at it. I haven't seen that shit since the 1970s.What a game.I really needed that.Real HE-MAN stuff.
Jim,
Come-on, Who killed kennedy? Everyone knows it was Desi Arnaz.

Seeking of conspiracies, Coast to Coast radio sat. night at 10:00pm will discuss in detail:
Bush Family Secrets
Ian Punnett welcomes award-winning investigative reporter Russ Baker, who will discuss shocking disclosures about various Bush family elders, as well as startling evidence that sheds new light on the JFK assassination and Watergate.
There on most AM stations, also on XM 165 radio, Or listen on line go to Coast to Coast page and patch-in from a free radio affiliate.
It turns out Bush was in the CIA much earlier, than disclosed previously.I think they are going to say Bush was there when JFK got killed.
bushy the first was in dallas in november 1963.
and of course it's just all those internet kooks claiming that the gold teeth from the all those victims of the national socialist concentration camps went to pay off hitler's international bankers: yeap, the grandfather bushies....
see, the kennedy's were just trailer trash and got their fortune from booze smuggling and stock frauds, while the bushies got their family wealth by owning hitler (hey look at what happened to that asshat saddam hussien), and sucking blood instead of being criminals like joe kennedy....
so, nah! conspiracies don't exist. it's just the drugs.....just say NO ... NO .... NO.... AGH ! please mr. secret policeman don't rip out my teeth.....
oh btw, jimbo, i put my $500 check in the mail this morning.....
Here is a summary of the Coast to Coast show. Its from their website.
The live show reviled much more information. I may look-into this guys book, not that I care so much about past conspiracies but the past is indicative of future.
Ian Punnett welcomed award-winning investigative reporter Russ Baker, who discussed the connections between the Bush family and the intelligence community, as well as startling evidence that shed new light on the JFK assassination and Watergate. According to his research, George H.W. Bush's affiliation with the CIA began as far back as 1953, as opposed to Bush's "official" joining of the organization in 1976. Two elements that led him to this conclusion were that Bush was briefed on the JFK assassination by the CIA on the day after Kennedy's murder and he also appeared to be using his oil company to set up "fronts" for the intelligence agency around the world.
However, Baker said, these CIA outlets were merely part of a larger agenda driven by wealthy elites who have designs on shaping the world to their end. Stressing that the Bush family are merely players in this group of power brokers, Baker said, "they're not the guys running the thing. They are just operatives." He dismissed the notion that it is an organized group, suggesting that it is more of a collection of like-minded, powerful people working together to consolidate their power. "It's not this absolute club or anything like that," Baker explained, "you're talking about a mindset." Ultimately, he expressed concern that this coterie continues to exert its power, "I think what we're looking at is a very sensitive and fragile situation that perpetuates to this day."
He suggested that the Watergate scandal was one historic event that this faction, including George H.W. Bush (who was head of the RNC at the time), played a hand in orchestrating. Baker put forth the idea that Richard Nixon, previously put into power by these elites, had begun to move away from their influence. As such, the Watergate event was developed as a means to drive Nixon out of office in a "cleaner" fashion than they had eliminated JFK. According to Baker, this explains why the break-in seemed so poorly done, how the story ended up in the press, and why Nixon was so befuddled by what had happened. "It's almost like a rolling coup d'etat," he observed, "when you're in these permanent bureaucracies, you don't have a lot of use for these elected presidents. They're an annoyance and a problem for you."
why there's a pic of daddy bushy in the audience watching jfk get his brains blown out....

thankfully, the elite ruling class members are generally too busy either poisoning each other or fighting as factions over control.
it's like the government and the police; they don't have the resources to control everybody. only those that are a nuisance or those they decide are a threat.
buy some wheat, some books or movies and forget about it. the amerikan imperium has thrown itself on it's sword in the middle east, and the big oil monopoly and 'western civilization' as seen on tv is coming to an end.
btw, lot's of "temporary" 'war tax increases on the way. at least a 1% income tax surcharge. and, by golly a 5% 'elective' sugery tax.
damn, get down to the titty bars why you can still afford real flesh... cause they don't give away fake boobs as it is....
Oh GOODY another tax
On Saturday in his blog Mukwah discussed the salient difference in male and female taste in literature.
This perfectly illustrates his point.

You want proof that conspiracies are both possible and commonplace? Easy.
A conspiracy is defined by Websters as participation in a plot or contrivance; to act in harmony toward a common end. With this in mind, I give you examples.
Santa Clause - nearly everyone in the US is guilty of contributing to this one, from the US Post Office to Norad to your own parents. No one can prove empirically that St. Nick doesn't exist (how can you prove a negative?), after all.
Drug trafficking - Yes, despite a massive and expensive 35+ year war on drugs, and despite regular death or incarceration of the illegal drug industries employees, drugs are as commonplace and inexpensive as they ever have been, still regularly hitting the streets by the freighter load.
The Manhattan Project - All the proof you need that literally hundreds of thousands of government personnel can plot secretly together, for years.
Pearl Harbor - Well documented plot by both the government of Japan (to successfully attack the US military force in HI), and those within the government of the US (to allow the attack to occur, to galvanize US sentiment, overcome isolationism, and get us into the war before it was "too late"). See multiple books and documents on the subject.
Those who claim that there can be no conspiracies, only incompetence, are themselves insane or naive.
