surplus of idiots

SURPLUS OF IDIOTS

Normally I thank a sender of gifts by e-mail, but I also like to give a public notice when I am especially awed. A loyal minion, that beautiful bastard, sent me the set of books from Matthew Braken.Enemies Foreign And Domestic. Domestic Enemies. And Foreign Enemies. It is one thing to say, yeh, sure, send them along since I don’t have them. Quite another to actually hold them in your hands and then cuddle them tightly to your chest, looking around suspiciously for anyone wishing to separate you from your new found wealth, an actual electrical jolt coursing to your special private area. Ahhh! I so especially love books. So if anyone points a shaking finger at me, spewing partially masticated bits of organically grown soy bean curd at me, and accuses me of wanting the Massive Inevitable Imminent Die Off, I answer to you my love of books. Without our wasteful, petroleum gulping economy in place, how am I to receive the printed word by mail? Not that I’ll waste the Apocalypse. Once it happens I dearly hope I’ll have enough time to brutally assassinate some politicians, lawyers, bankers and Californians before I end up in the stew pot. When life hands you lemons, you obviously make a cool refreshing drink.

As Mexico quid pro quo’s us a lack of oil for a lack of corn, as Iranian secret service agents infiltrate Pakistan trying to secure a few nukes to keep The Great Satan ( Uncle Sam, not my ex wife- she is the Handmaiden Of Lucifer, or HOL, one step above the computer HAL on the evil hierarchy ) out of their back yard, as the Great Grain Shortage Of 2010 creeps up on us, we accelerate into our collapse. We are running out of everything ( I really hope you are making grain storage a priority, as both grain will shoot up in price shortly and heavy items such as cast iron corn grinders will be cost prohibitive to ship soon ) but the one resource we are gaining in geometric leaps and bounds are idiots. On the local radio this morning a local charity who I won’t name for fear of embarrassing but who go by the initials of United Way ( I don’t actually have anything against those folks and happily have an automatic deduction from each paycheck going to them ) were reporting they received less than ten percent of their fund raising goals. Evidently this is a huge deal since when you get a private donation then you get matching state and federal funds. So a lot of other organizations are going to suffer. Women’s shelters and the like. I’m sure it will also bite the food bank in the ass. My beef is that they had been 80 or 90% dependent on one of the mining companies for that money. Last year the company tactfully and diplomatically reminded them that perhaps they should diversify their revenue source. This is corporate code for “the sugar train is over, bitch, get a new sucker”. Either they didn’t, or they couldn’t, and now it is full panic time.

I get along pretty good with the regulars here at the food bank. A lot of our business when I first started was the chronically homeless. Food, a daily hot meal, showers, clothing. Recently with the doubling of the unemployment rate we are now seeing mostly From Two To One Income Families showing up for emergency services. But back to the professional bums. We see eye to eye as I’m only one step above their living conditions. I don’t hate them, or look down on them. They have chosen a life hard in some aspects, but easier in others. But they have almost reverted to children in their dependency. Lack of responsibilities has its up side, but you also make yourself more vulnerable. They don’t see the coming cut back in services and how it will effect them. The aforementioned families didn’t see the economic set back coming and weren’t prepared. Elko, by the way, is quite expensive to live in, at the least the city. The good paychecks from the mines drives up the cost of living. When people can’t find a good paying job that can’t afford to live here ( don’t get me started on the idiots moving here expecting to walk in on a cold call and work at the mines ).

*

In a way, lack of foresight is the fault of the individual. In another, the idiotic “think positive to achieve wealth” BS shoveled down everyone’s throat shares some blame. Mostly it is a failure to be paranoid. I simply find it amazing that no one sees the simple correlation between petroleum surplus and charity. A welfare state, a society that shares its wealth, must have a surplus to do so. Without that surplus, charity ends. Our surplus is long over, the last grasp of paper wealth drying up the last of it. Surplus is ending. Plan accordingly. Cut back now to live within one income. If I can support two people on half an income of minimum wage, anyone can. Oh, boo hoo, I can’t have ESPN and Friday night pizza. Well, you could if you lived on junk land in a trailer. I barely have to squeeze to put ten percent of my take home pay to books. You can still have luxuries if you cut back in some areas. Get your bare bones emergency preps now. No one knows how much time before the big cliff jump takes place. Assume it is tomorrow. You should be planning on one income as well as no income.

*

Remember, Food Stamps and Social Security is a form of charity. It will be the last to go, being funded by Zimbabwe’s printing presses loaned to us for the duration of the emergency and promised to be returned as soon as those green shoots get just a little bit bigger, but it will end eventually. A garden is great for that, but so is no mortgage. Please take this stuff seriously, because the only thing that could save us is another UFO landing with the secrets of room temperature fusion. It could happen, about the time those evil looking monkeys from Oz fly out of my ass.

You will enjoy those books. It was a good minion indeed who sent them to you. I am eager to hear your opinions on them.

There's a problem with your link. The page it links to says "Cast Iron Nut Grinder" at the top but, the page has nothing to do with my last girl friend.

Hey Bison (James),
I just wrote a few more articles, maybe I'll get a few more pennies. I would be more than happy to whore my blog. If you can advertise and/or send readers to my blog who donate, I might give you a cut depending on the results. By the way, how the heck did you get you blog advertised on Google and let people find it??

Creampuff, it has been a long hard road. I brought most of my old readers with me to the blog ( originally some were found by print classified ). I think my growth is now through links from all the other blogs, but I can't be sure, doing no research. I think The Three Amigos and Creekmore would have a better grasp of that sort of thing.

Fu*k the United Way. Let us never forget these were the idiots who led the charge against the Boy Scouts because the Scouts wanted to prohibit gay men from taking little boys camping.

Roll Tide.

I would totally disagree with your opinion that Social Security is charity. I've paid into it for 45 years and I want it back!

James m Dakin said...

Dan- I've argued this point before but the coffee is good this morning and I'm feeling fine. Let's just say that a SURPLUS is needed to pay out SS and we ain't got one. Energy surplus equals SS, Unions, global conquest and domestic non-workers still eating. Fair is where you go to sell your pig, fair ain't whats going to happen to your check ( COLA screw job ). And, TOR, I forgot to rub it in. Ha Ha!! Canned bacon, silver coins, expensive books! You are allowed to be envious for more than just the hair.

The absolute last thing to be cut will be SS, unemployment and foodstamps. Those programs keep the unhappy public from rioting and looting the local walmart.
