Adapting is what Prepping is all about.
Used to be something broke on the farm, the farmer went and got his tools and fixed it. It didn't matter if he needed to weld it,grind it, cut it, or make a replacement part. He used what he had laying around and made it work.
Most prepper blogs I read discuss storing wheat, water filtering ,weapons, shelter etc.
But what if you fall and break your arm or your leg or both? You ever try to change a fuel filter with your left hand in your pocket. Ever try and climb a ladder and only use one arm. What if, while you are healing up a blood thirsty gang of biker zombies come riding up to the front of the house? Can you shoot that ten pound enfield with one hand? Can you cock your air rifle one handed?
What if your arm and leg was never going to heal up? What if you had only one arm and one leg to work with for the rest of your life? Pick whatever sounds good to you, falling off a ladder, car wreck, plane crash. for whatever the reason you are down to one each. Here is the good news. You can still figure out a way to do most of the stuff you used to. I said MOST not ALL.
Back to the first paragraph, the farmer had tools and the self confidence to believe he could fix whatever broke.Even when I had the use of both arms and legs I still used power tools or air tools for practically everything. Only difference now is I have to use them and figure out how to use them safely one handed. vise grips and clamps have taken the place of my left hand. A leg brace, which locks my knee and ankle straight allow me to walk with the aid of a walker for short distances .The point is; you adapt. You use hoists and winches and lifts. If you are superman and only kryptonite can harm you then no problem. If you might grow old or get hurt, you are going to need tools and the knowledge of how to use them to adapt.More important than that you are going to need resolve.
This applies to all survival situations: first, never, ever feel sorry for yourself. Second, never, ever whine.Third, be positive. You still have one arm and one leg that works,YEH! You still have your mind, your good looks and charm. Remember guys, utilize,ADAPT, and overcome. And last but not least, know when you CAN'T do something and ask for help.Prepping and life are all about adapting.

Wow!!! What a life affirming post. Kudoos to you for your wisdom and intelligence. I'll bet your picture is next to the word survivor.
Good article. You have to make it happen. Self-pity is self-destructive.
