MESSY EMPIRES

Our intrepid Empire Energy Expert, http://americanenergycrisis.blogspot.com/ , marked the anniversary of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima ( Hiroshima ) with an article. Needless to say he was a bit embarrassed to be an American when confronted with the event. He’s all red, white and blue but at least he points out the warts. I simply allow my jaw to slam open at the reaction of some people whenever I have anything in the slightest negative to say about how our government works. It was really bad when I allowed the comments section to go unmoderated, as the patriotic asshats screamed in billowing rage. Now that I’ve given the miscreant minions chance after chance to tone down their crap, and then after their refusal to discontinue posting copyrighted material or racial slurs ( I don’t care because they’re mean, I care because they are ignorant ), I’ve moderated the comments section and few if any flag waving episodes have been repeated. They know I won’t allow it to be posted so they don’t waste their time getting their big sister to type up the comment. Thank goodness. Listen, say what ever you want about me. Don’t hold back your feelings ( although be a slight bit circumvent in your profanity [ Expletive Deleted: A Good Look at Bad Language ]- asshat rather than asshole, anal spelunker rather than faggot. Come on, it can be fun to get creative with cussing ). It’s not that I only want you to post the positive spin, just that I won’t allow the N Bomb, nor will I allow myself to get sued or investigated.

If you really think loving your country means you must love your government, than I see little hope for you. You are incapable of rational thought. Please do us all a favor and do a suicide by cop ( Suicide by Cop: Committing Suicide by Provoking Police to Shoot You (Death, Value and Meaning) ), attacking a rally of politically correct protesters with excessive force and then making threatening gestures to the police when they respond ( I know you won’t pose any threat to the LEO’s since your kind will goosestep along with the federal ninja jack booted thugs as a show of solidarity ). How can anyone NOT see that excessive response is how our government does things? So why are so many people surprised when something like Hiroshima happens? Why do convoluted cartwheels of anguished analysis trying to make sense of the event? OH!, why? Why? Why would we attack Mexico for land? Why would we claim an exploding boiler was an attack by Spain? Why would our troops be allowed to slaughter Philippine civilians in an attempt to pacify the islands? Why would we kill 150,000 Americans to safeguard the investments of JP Morgan ( Morgan: American Financier )? Why would we shoot our own veterans down during a peaceful demonstration in which they wanted their combat benefits early to help them survive the Great Depression which itself was caused by the newly created Federal Reserve Bank ( Secrets of the Temple: How the Federal Reserve Runs the Country ) flooding the country with credit? Why would we provoke Japans attack by embargo ( why couldn’t they be passive like Iraq and allow their people to starve during the embargo )? Why would the government fake the Gulf Of Tonkin ( CIA'S GULF OF TONKIN SECRETS ) incident to get us in Vietnam? Why would the government blow up the children of its own government workers in Oklahoma City? Or its bankers minions to justify the War On Terror ( read-middle east oilfield occupation and domestic civil rights suppression )? You are so blind that you say that “since I love my country which means I love my government hence my government can do no wrong”.

It’s pretty dangerous to turn a blind eye to your governments faults. You might not be able to see how they are going to screw you next, but at least you won’t be totally blindsided by it when it happens. It is all very easy to explain. America is not a wayward Republic, nor a good government gone bad by a few Republican administrations, nor an example of excessive capitalism ( remember the simple chain of command- our economy was turned into a money system by the bankers, and they control both the corporation which need capital and the government which needs to borrow every day. Who controls the purse strings? The Fed, not the federal government ). Our government has been for some time and will continue to be in the near future ( how near is the subject of endless debate here ) an Empire ( Empire ). Pure and simple. Not just a bastardized version, a full on empire. An empire needs an unrestrained money supply, and we went off the gold standard. An empire needs to control the oceans and strategic land areas, and we rule the water and have bases in over a hundred countries. An empire needs energy to grow and sustain and we were the globes number one oil producer. Now we control the oil supply through military threat and control of the money supply ( although we could debate if that has already ended ). An empire needs the unconditional support of its populace as most of its wealth is squandered on military needs. It has that, as evidenced by the threatening growls any time a word of discontent from someone such as myself is murmured.

We provoked Japan, we sat on the sidelines long enough to force Britain to cede all its power to us in desperation for its survival, and we financed both the rise of Hitler and his early military adventures as a way to get both Germany and Russia to bleed each other out and thus pose no threat to us. And Hiroshima was also quite simple. That was our warning to the survivor in that struggle. Don’t mess around, we have a new weapon that can wipe out what the Nazis ( Agent Zigzag: A True Story of Nazi Espionage, Love, and Betrayal ) left standing. It had nothing to do with the threat of Japan, rather the threat to the only power that might have slowed us down on the road to global domination ( I have my doubts Russia got the bomb on its own, and wonder if we didn’t help to keep our economy on a full blown war economy- but that is another subject ). The Mongols ( Honor Few, Fear None: The Life and Times of a Mongol ) slaughtered every civilian during a raid, to warn the next village not to resist. We did the exact same thing. Empire building is messy, so don’t cry over the cracked eggs. Of course, also keep in mind that all Empires eat their young. You enjoyed the fruits of world domination, now you shall too reap the decline.

You're sure full of piss 'n vinegar today Lord Bison.

A simple truth of history few in this country will accept is this: The Founders were a bunch of rebels who didn't want to pay their taxes to the King of England. They wrote a bunch of documents meant to make one misty-eyed upon reading them to justify their rebellion.

They fought the Revolutionary War mostly by 'ambush' and other guerrilla tactics in order to steal the Colonies from King George. Facts is facts.

Bison, you left out FDR's ambassador at Stalin's right hand, Guderian in Smolensk, Richard Sorge in Honolulu, October, 1941.
Commies everywhere.

One of your better posts, mostly just rational common sense. Too bad humans are more moved by emotional limbic/brain stem reactivity then frontal cortex---it just makes people too easy to be manipulated by images/symbols and other meaningless propaganda.

Nationalism leads to many bad places, usually tyranny and genocides and endless wars for the peasants to fights as their master's ride in Yachts and get rich by doing nothing--beyond pulling some strings.

Most humans are just mindless conformists that have the trappings of modernity, but don't have the brains to understand anything--a true idiocracy. If you add and 'ism' to it, it seems fubar in short order.

Bison I do enjoy reading your writing style. It is amazing to me that people are so dumb down they don't understand what money is compared to a Federal Reserve NOTE. It is not like it is hidden it is written on every single Dollar NOTE in their pocket. Well if they have a job that is and still have FRN left. Sadly the vast majority of Americans are more worry about the football, baseball American Idol Lindsey Lohan then they are at what is really going on. Like a scared child it is easier to plug their ears and say LALALALA I can't hear you then face the truth. America it is over. The collapse is coming you either get prepared or you will die. No gray area here.

Although I usually think you are a verbally repetitive, reality impaired, chemically inconvenienced Appalachian American who is only occasionally
suffering from cranial rectal inversion and full of bovine scatology I can't help but like you James.

I have attained enough years where I realize that everyone seems normal till you get to know them.

I totally agree with your assessment of the situation and think in some cases you are too optimistic.

Please note: the above comments were made without the use of one darned cuss word. It was hard but I did it.

I am a regular reader, but don't comment much. (I hesitate to comment with my blogger id out of fear that the corporate powers who control my present existence will brand me a "nutjob" and fire my corporate whore ass...)

Anyways once and a while a political commentary or a logical diatribe is posted here which states reality with such brilliance I am astounded. Kudos on this one! The Truth is a strange thing to see written down. Usually in the survivalist community its tinged with, Jeebus freaks, flag worshippers, apologists, etc. I just like to see it plainly stated and unabashed.

We're all f%$#d its just a matter of when...

Now go back to telling me how stupid I am for not having junk land, and a large food supply, maybe someday I'll listen before its too late...

Great post today.
Sadly, I don't personally
know anyone that is aware
of more than one of your points.

The Mexican-American war was actually terrifically profitable for ordinary (i.e., non-politically connected) Americans. All of the other wars you cite, not so much. I'd have much less of a problem with American Imperialism if more of its wars fit the Mexican-American mold. I imagine US success in the 1850s made Hitler very jealous in the 1930s.

A somewhat neutral take on the subject might go something like this:

The Japanese were a ruthless expansionary empire.

They were hemmed in by two ruthless expansionary empires: Russia (Soviets) and USA. The major "prizes" in their area had already been grabbed by now weakened European (previously) expansionary empires.

There behavior was the equal in horror to the previous horrors. So they don't really get a free pass as the "victim".

What is odd about your argument is that you start off by talking about the problems with slavishly following your government no matter where you go. Yet it is arguable that this was the biggest failing of the Japanese people. Many of them were pretty well aware that the show was up, they just refused to give in. When their leaders told them to slam planes into warships, they did it in the thousands. They were the professional military sized version of todays suicide bombers.

The total casualties come in at around 200,000 for both atomic bombs. This roughly matches the casualties from the first Tokyo fire bomb raid (Dresden the last in Germany had about 100,000 casualties).

Given that the entire war produced about very rough estimates of 60 million causalities, and that almost everyone thought that the invasion of Japan would be extremely costly, it is hard to see why Truman wouldn't try the bombs. They were about the equivalent of a nasty fire bomb raid and took a whole lot less effort.

As for my personal take: WW2 is one of the few times that a set of nasty aggressors actually had to pay for their nastiness. That this trend did not prove to be as strong as one would like is unfortunate.
