OIL & SILVER & BREAD, OH MY
Yet another article on
Peak Oil
, Inflation, and
Overpopulation
, Oh My! Why is any of this a surprise to you, me, or Ross Perot? As I’ve been hollering at you for some time, others have done a much better job than I in pointing out the interconnected issues of the reasons behind the collapse. Namely, the guy that put out
Crash Course
. Available both online and as a DVD if you don’t have the computer time. Does the term “exponential” ring a bell? The smallest amount of growth over a long enough period of time in the end is unsustainable. And the only reason things lasted so long was such abundant oil ( before WWI the US provided 60% of the worlds oil. Today it is 5%. Another negative growth in exponential terms ). Which, granted, we were smart enough to turn into global sea lane control, global currency monopoly and technologically advanced weapons for force monopoly. Nowadays our leadership isn’t simply backed into the corner with no options, they are
dumber than a box of rocks
to boot. I guess when it is
Game Over
, the clown in the costume standing in front of the wheel attached to no rudder just needs to look pretty to keep the passengers calm and happy, chugging cocktails and flirting with each other to desperately feel something in their numb lives.

Today, Friday the 8th and oil is $112. That is itself wouldn’t be a reason to get all in a tizzy and run screaming down the street, the end is nigh! If it had jumped up to that amount and then showed promise of dropping again. But it doesn’t seem to be doing much more than slowly but surely inching up with no dips. Again, let’s visit another expert, someone that actually is professional in something other than paranoia ( with the occasional flare for frugal living ). Good ‘Ol Greg over at
http://americanenergycrisis.blogspot.com/
While he never gave me explicit permission to steal all of his ideas and research, I got the idea that it was kind of understood. He doesn’t seem to think our economy will remain undamaged at over $100 a barrel oil ( in the long run ). Undamaged as in supporting the current paradigm. I like how he thinks. Granted, he doesn’t go for all the car explosions,
full automatic weapons
and
bare bosoms
that are the staple of both 70’s action films and doomer porn ( he’s more of a feed yourself farmer ), at least he is open to the idea of MZB’s showing up to a town near you soon. He is also one of my favorites since he dogs on welfare bitches so much. But that is just a bonus. For the economic crash tied into the oil decline, he’s your man. If $100 oil is the end of times, it is just a nail in the coffin. The corpse is still twitching and ain’t ready for burial yet. This being a perfect storm, there is always another disaster brewing since, by definition, perfect storms have multiple events.

Silver
just keeps going up. Not because suddenly everyone decided to hedge against inflation. The Chinese and Indians ( dots, not feathers ), combined near half the
global population
, have always traditionally been huge consumers of silver. Millennia of oppression, famine, occupation and in general unhappy times have ingrained into them the importance of always, through thick and thin, having personal real money. No, the hoarding has always been with us globally. But domestically it is a different story. Our silver domestic production has fallen like a rock. Today we import sixty percent of our silver ( and that figure could be higher, my book source is a few years old ). Just ten years ago it was something like 20% ( don’t quote me on that, I’m just ballparking ). Now, gold isn’t in the same league. Nevada is the globes #3 producer of gold. Since we don’t have to import as much, if any ( demand isn’t widespread ), that market seems to be under the bankers control. But silver shows better signs of being a true barometer of inflation, since it isn’t controlled ( or to a lesser degree ) like gold is. Being mostly imported, and being a commodity we don’t swap for
military services
like oil, my guess is that silver shows better signs of being real wealth storage compared to gold. Silver is telling us that the dollar is worth less and less every day. I don’t see that trend reversing.

Wheat has taken a short vacation from frightening us. Is the spring crop already in? Domestically we should be doing okay, at least for a time ( baring
weather disasters
). But that isn’t saying we won’t turn on a dime or suddenly see shortages. If in fact the crop was great and prices are taking a breather from inflating ( and don’t think unrelenting oil increases won’t effect food prices quickly ) now would be a great time to stock up. You can’t stock up on oil or gas, silver is a bit pricey ( hah, hah, friggin ha, you silly sorry sons a bitches, I bought mine when it was $7 an ounce ). But you can stock up on wheat. DO IT!! Wheat is the only bright spot right now. Well, that and lower ammo prices and the fact that shipping for your
grinder
hasn’t increased yet. Am I the only one here that is simply amazed that things have held together as long as they have? You do realize that with Black Swans being the new normal, things will change instantly? But here are oil and silver giving you a crystal clear warning that things are falling apart. Plenty of warning. Enough warning that even a complete moron should have already gotten it. Even if another miracle happens, why wait? And, by the way, still waiting on those cult member applications.

Well, concerning Weather disasters, I see that the Great Plains are now dryer than any time since the Dust Bowl. Got Wheat Now?
I'm applying but you haven't stated what the job prospects are in Helko. How many hotels are there ?
Gotta eek out a livin sumhow still.
Could most definitely help ya on those heating and cooling problems...
Spud- the unemployment rate here is about half the state average. But the cost of living in the town limits is pretty high. Plenty of hotels, but I have no idea their employee needs. Remember, you start out at "cannon fodder" status, being male.

I will always love ya as an apocalypse brother, but your postings have been much weaker since you went to this 'way ahead of time' posting schedule.
We want daily snark. If Christ returns to judge the world, we want your immediate take, not some 'evergreen' posting on Enfields or the evil of freeze-dried foods. Shit, TEOTWAWKI could come upon us and we would read your next days blog about dehydrated potatoes and not hear a mention of the Rag-Heads nuking 12 major cities.
In short, you need to be more up-to-date. Think about it.
Not too worried bout the status aspect. I've always been promoted whether I want it or not.
Don't worry Jim, I might have a spot for ya somewhere lol.
840- I think the main problem is my lack of Internet access. It hurts the "up to the minute" aspect. Not much to be done with that. If I get wireless Internet, then there is the whole issue of increased electrical need. The first two years of the blog I had grid use, but I also wasn't "living the life". Trade-offs are a bitch, what? I hear what you are saying, agree with it, not sure I can do anything about it.
