GUEST ARTICLE
My regular article follows-Jim

All the stuff Jim talks about speaks very well to a society where 85% of the people could wind up living in squalor with unstable jobs.

Bolt actions and other cheap guns speak to increasing crime. If your not in the top 15% cheap working guns are your life line, as is other security such as bars, metal doors, and other methods that would have only been used in a Ghetto pharmacy. My sliding glass doors have been replaced with plywood for years now.

My main car is a Volvo, forgive me on that one Jim. It is an ancient 244 I paid under a $1000 for it almost 10 years ago from a real yuppie who did the intervals by the book. I still do using online and salvage yard parts.

It makes me look shabby down at the heels genteel. I am marketing a perception. Other favorite vehicle is an old 3/4 ton van, no longer needs emissions tests but would likely pass. It is white rusty with out windows except for the rear doors. No AC from the factory but does have floor and window vents. Very practical other then not so great MPG's. The Volvo gets high 20's mpg's.
Health care is a real concern and has been for years. But I watch my diet and ride a bike often. My favorite bikes are ones with the old Sturmy Archer 3 speed hubs. YOU CANT WEAR THEM OUT. I do wear out tires of course and even a chain once in awhile. There likely a good as a Trek for many uses and are not a serious theft target. I just look like another poor person or an eccentric old guy. One of the real secrets of Health is riding a bike, just like Jim does to work most days. There is no health crisis if you don't need health care for chronic conditions.

The emphasis on Wheat works for me. It has for years. Whole wheat. My system craves it. No doubt my ancestors came from places where if the people had wheat society was tranquil and happy. Rice is supposed to be good for people too, esp the brown rice. I can eat it the Kurt Saxon way with milk and raisons, but otherwise it is about as appetizing as dog barf. Beans can be OK, but I don't crave them.

Putting up a supply of food was common place well within living memory. My mother was actually glad when I found a hidden apple orchard on forest company land and picked what seems like them all. She canned them all as sauce or whole. BIG MISTAKE was letting anyone find out. Guess how many apples where there next year.....

I like Jim's blog as it addresses the needs of normal people on the ground. I have had the same opinion of the greedy geezers since school days. They really were the thin edge of the wedge. Also can remember when child support did not have Gestapo like enforcement. How many families have been destroyed by easy access to high dollar child support and greedy leeching fogies?
