Hmmm, stranded by flood waters. Where have we heard that before? Damn, this is a tough one. Let’s see, neglected infrastructure leading to more easily damaged engineered structures, government incompetence due to cross purposes bureaucracies, lack of resources to fix anything afterwards. Oh, I got it! Katrina. Thank you James Kunstler, for your article Katrina In Vermont. Did we hear about this flood disaster from the regular national media? No, they were busy telling you more important things such as all the rich pukes living on the ocean didn’t die. That millions got their power back on quickly because by all the gods we can’t have Jerry Geriatric shriveling in the heat, his skin is wrinkled enough and he needs his air conditioning. But Kuntsler, who was nice enough to tell you all about the collapse years and eons ago in his doomer bible The Long Emergency, he told us about the un-forecasted effects of the storm that is having real, dramatic consequences. Now, remember, I’m talking as a far away observer. Perhaps the locals now up to their hairy ass cracks in water had forecast this, but the general public far away didn’t share in it. But as far as I’m aware, his was one of the first voices claiming that all was indeed not well in Yankeeland. Yet another reason I forgive him for being a commie Northerner.

My, how this year has been busy, the skies darkened by black swans ( I’m borrowing that turn of phrase, but I can’t remember who I’m ripping off ). Most of the middle east rioting over food prices. Japan out of the running economically, and glowing radioactively to boot. The New Madrid giving us warning that we promptly ignore. Deep water oil drilling proving it won’t save us. And now mountain villages left to die ( a few token small burgs will be saved by air lift, most will be abandoned- I’m speaking metaphorically of course, I doubt the population will wait there until they starve to death ). I know I forgot an event or two of these last eight months. I’m sure you could include things such as European countries going broke, the price of gold up 50% or whatever it is. Are you even starting to get worried yet? I sure as hell would if I were you, stranded in the big city. Just as New Hampshire and New York rural isolated towns will be left without a resupply route, you will soon be left to die at the hands of rioting ghetto dwellers.

Look, I know the cry of wolf was raised thirty years ago, hell, ten years ago, and nothing happened. But we easily could have slipped into a permanent depression back then, had we not secured Saudi oil or if terrorists had bombed the Alaskan pipeline or some such ( I’m sure they would have blamed the commies back then, not the Muslims ). And Y2K could happen today, with government cries of budget woes ( I’m not saying it will happen, I’m saying if today’s government was in charge ten years ago nothing would have been fixed ). But just like in the fable, the wolf eventually shows up. Be thankful for the warnings, don’t use them as proof that all will be well forever. Now, let’s get back to getting the high hard one stuck up your bung and getting broken off by the fedgov.

Back when Bush tried to drown all the darkies ( I’d wager a testicle that a Yale grad, an ivy leaguer, a rich ass snob, is far more racist than a redneck ), New Orleans got a new downtown for tourists and the ghettos were left in piles of ruble. All the welfare recipients were relocated ( by their own accord, as if they had a choice ) to adjacent big city ghettos. Not only were they forced out of their homes, if they weren’t killed first by Blackwater jack booted thugs, but the neighboring cities were gifted with a doubling of the crime rate ( I don’t condone criminality, but I understand that even some otherwise normal people will turn to crime if they have no other choices- especially now in today’s worsening job climate. You can’t automatically assume all criminals are lazy crackheads- but you can still easily shoot them ). The feds said piss off to refugees and to taxpayers. Now it isn’t as easy to dismiss the victims. I’m not trying to stir up the racial crap pot here, but essentially what it boils down to is that when blacks are screwed, we don’t care. When white boys ( some or most of who are also on welfare ) get the same treatment, the general population panics. They know they could be next. You can tell me all day long how you are very sensitive and would never dis on a brother and how you listen to rap and how your best friend is a African American, but I still call BS. We are all racist to some degree, and feel guilty. But it is just tribal affiliation. It isn’t about skin color, it is about values. An Oreo is one us more than a white Muslim ( I’m sure there are a few out there- remember that idiot they arrested years back who traveled to the middle east to help fight the Jihad? His picture was memorable as he had an Enfield rifle ).

Yankees, who are usually worthy of our belittlement, are being abandoned and stranded. Who is next? Folks on life saving medicine about to lose Medicare? Social Security pukes with an “out” ( besides means testing, you will eventually be disqualified if you have any family member who can take you in, whether they want to or not )? Anyone with a 401k ( I keep telling you, cash it out and pay off all debts, starting with your shelter- this is a piece of advice that is potentially very dangerous because of the money amount, yet I still feel compelled to repeat it. I think things WILL get that bad in your lifetime. But what the hell do I know? )? We are all being whittled away one at a time. But, just go on about your business. Nothing to see here. Continue working hard for your corporate masters, stay in debt. Don’t try to panic. No wolves at the door. [ insert heavy sarcasm on above ]
