If you are religious, more power to you. I observe the Golden Rule, and I then request that all Jesus Freaks leave me the heck alone. Me and Baby Jesus have an understanding and it doesn’t include anyone else’s definition of what being religious is. In fact, I’d like to ask that we all solemnly pledge that we will attack and kill three different groups after the collapse ( I leave it to your discretion on the politician/lawyer issue. Their extinction would be nice, but Bisonian citizenship is not contingent on it ). First off is child molesters. I simply can’t believe that those whores over at Penn State, or wherever the current scandal is taking place, would allow a pedophile loose in exchange for continued profits ( kind of like the Catholics did ). Second, cannibal predators. If you eat your own villagers, fine. I don’t care. But those that go out and hunt should be fair game for everyone. Third, any asshat that uses his religion as justification to attack others. Now, those that reject traditional religion and replace it with alternate fervent belief are just sad and pathetic. They can be dangerous, but no where near the above three evil bastards. One group is the “progressives”. Well, as silly as the name is, I guess it had to do since “communists” were already taken. Then there are the “objectivists”, or whatever the Ayn Rand Fan Club members call themselves. Because, once again, the cool names were taken, like anarchists. What I think is hilarious as hell is when the Randians have been co-pted by the commies. The anti-religious group, with a religious like zeal takes over the agenda of another anti-religious group whose main claim to fame is holding an even more irrational worship of a substitute dogma.

National ( national in scope, but no longer funded by the national government, their once bestest buddies deserting them ) Pravda Radio had a piece on Monday about how Atlas Shrugged had gone mainstream. And presumably they were saying this with a straight face. In essence, their claim was that any politician, but especially the fascists, that was all for less regulation or less welfare was following the Rand Religion. I’ve read Atlas Shrugged twice, I admire it as one of the best novels ever written ( although, admittedly, you don’t read it for great writing but for a great idea ), I think everyone should have a copy of it even before they get a bible ( you don’t need a Bible if you just follow the Golden Rule, but Atlas Shrugged is a good reference for individual freedom. Okay, you don’t really need that either, but it will make for better reading entertainment during Cabin Fever season ). And I’ll be damned if anywhere in Atlas Shrugged did it say that if you get rid of constraints against business was it then okay to still have constraints against the individual. You can’t have Big Daddy government oppressing the people and giving the corporations free reign, and then still call it Atlas Shrugged. Ayn, who never should have allowed herself to be eventually worshiped by her followers, but that was one of her few lapses in logic, was pretty darn clear on the definition of freedom. It wasn’t freedom of corporations to burn, loot and pillage at will. And it wasn’t the freedom of government to tax the hell out of everybody and everything for the benefit of a few central bankers while the masses of peasants starved under the overpasses.

I hate the welfare state, and I hate the leviathan central government. But if you are going to be an un-Constitutional government as far as taxes, you should also be one as far as taking care of the impoverished. My ideal would be NO government, but if you want one you need to at least take care of the poor. You can’t let people starve as you throw trillions to the bankers. If there is no welfare, there should be no invasive government. Then, the workers can take care of themselves before they have to take care of the rich on corporate welfare. Yet, this is exactly what this foul propaganda piece is suggesting. Under the guise of creating jobs by removing regulations against businesses they are just removing any obstacles to corporate misconduct. Look how well behaved the banks were when they got to start acting as investment firms. Look how restrained they acted when they could eminent domain private property. Of course, that is all old news. The important thing to keep in mind here is the set up towards ending private welfare. All you senior citizens that look down at your nose on trailer park trash, urban welfare queens, or even Food Stamps, please stop your Leave It To Beaver Propaganda Regurgitation and think for a second. That will also mean your Social Security check.

To “goose the economy”, to “stop impediments to free market forces”, or any other weasel phrases they care to slop out onto your food tray as you shuffle through the line to get your state sponsored gruel, they simply must cut waste and fraud in welfare. The factories are all overseas, the banker bailout has closed down the retail sector, and yet it is YOUR fault that you need public assistance. You will be the new scapegoat. At first it will only be the waste and fraud. Then it will move on to “means testing”, a quaint phrase meaning if you own any asset, even a home, that asset could be sold at a theoretical market value and you could live off those proceeds, so you are ineligible for public money. Hell, I can see

them pulling something like, “if you have a good credit rating, you could get a college loan and go work in X profession, so you are ineligible for public assistance”. I know that welfare will end, it is just a sham that big government won’t also. I imagine Ayn is spinning in her grave.
